Your photographs stay on your computer.

The photographs

Every stage in Studio — film emulation, adjustments, lenses, grain, masking, cropping, export — runs on your own machine, in your own browser. The image is held in memory and drawn to a canvas. No server sees it, because there is no server in that path at all. The same is true of Mono and the Print Room.

We never receive your photographs. So we cannot read them, store them, train on them, lose them, or hand them to anyone else.

No exceptions left

Two features used to send data off your device: Clone & Heal's Fixer (previously sent your painted region to WaveSpeed AI) and Film Emulation's AI Looks (previously sent a downscaled frame to Anthropic's API for a suggested grade). Both have been removed and replaced with on-device equivalents — the Fixer now runs entirely locally via a local LaMa model, and Film Emulation's Measured/Physical/Classic engines cover the same ground without a network call. Nothing in the app sends your photograph, or any description of it, anywhere.

What is kept on your device

A few preferences, in your browser's own storage. None of it is sent anywhere.

Clearing your browser data removes all of it. A .micro session file is written to your own disk only when you ask for one, and read back only when you open it.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics (property G-91SENLZSVW) to count page views and see which pages people reach. That is ordinary web analytics: it records things like the page you are on, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and which browser you use. It runs on the site's pages and knows nothing about the photographs you edit — the editor's work never reaches it.

If your browser blocks trackers, or you use an extension that does, every part of this site still works exactly the same.

Hosting

The site is served by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs — IP address, timestamp, the file requested — as any web host does. Those logs are about page requests, not photographs.

What this site does not do

• No accounts — nothing to sign up for, and no profile to build.
• No advertising, and no data sold or shared for it.
• No training on your images.
• No third-party embeds beyond the analytics named above and the AI model hosts listed below.

To be exact about that last point, because "no third-party embeds" on its own would overstate it: the AI tools (Sky Recovery, Auto Face, Object Select, Erase & Heal, Light Map, Subject detect) download their model code and weights the first time you use them, from cdn.jsdelivr.net, huggingface.co and storage.googleapis.com. Those requests reveal your IP address and which tool you opened, in the same way loading any web page does. They are downloads only — your photograph is never part of them, the model runs on your own machine once it arrives, and it is cached so the download happens once. If you never open an AI tool, none of those hosts is ever contacted. The site's Content-Security-Policy restricts the app to exactly these hosts and the analytics named above — every other destination is refused by the browser itself, so it cannot send data anywhere else even if something went wrong.

Children

Micronegative is a photo editor for general use. It is not directed at children, and because it collects no accounts and no personal details, it gathers nothing about them.

Changes, and how to ask
